What are the special benefits of this tariff plan?

  • There are no activation fees, monthly rentals or daily rentals for the tariff plan.
  • Can nominate 2 Mobitel numbers as M Best Friend Numbers (MBF)
  • Will be a telescopic pricing scheme with 2nd minute lower than 1st and 3rd and subsequent minutes lower than 2nd minute when you talk longer to MBest Friend numbers other Mobitel Numbers and any other local number.
  • Call rate as low as 50 cents per minute to 2 MBF numbers and any other Mobitel number from the 3rd minute onwards
  • Call rate as low as Rs.2 per minute to any other local number from the 3rd Minute onwards
  • SMS to 2 M Best Friend numbers are at 25 cents per message and 50 cents per message to any other Mobitel number.

This tariff plan will be available to all Mobitel SMART subscribers after 12th of July 2009.

To change to this tariff plan free of charge SMS the code ACT to 7474.

 

How do I activate my 2 MBF numbers on this tariff plan?

To nominate your M Best friend numbers call 141, press 5 and follow the instructions or type SMS mbf#Mobitel number #Mobitel Number 2 and send it to 7678.

 

I have already nominated a MBest Friend (MBF) number, how do I nominate my second number?

What are the charges applicable for changing MBest Friend (MBF) numbers?

The first two MBest Friend (MBF) number changes carried out within a calendar month is free change any additional number changes will be charged at Rs.50/- per change

 

Can I activate the Any 8 feature with this package?

Yes. You activate the Any 8 Feature with the package, however on activating Any 8 feature your call rates to MBest Friend (MBF) Numbers will be billed at the Any 8 rates.

 

Is the SMART Bonus loyalty discount applicable for this tariff plan?

Yes. You can enjoy a 10% discount after the 1st year and 20% discount after the 2nd year on the tariff plan , However the minimum outgoing call charge per minute for Mobitel Numbers inclusive of SMART Bonus discount will be 50 cents per minute and Rs.2 per minute for any other local number.

 

I am already enjoying a loyalty discount. Will I be able to enjoy this discount on this tariff?

Yes. This discount will automatically apply on your number on the new tariff plan after your transfer on 12th July 2009.

 

I am a Post paid user, can I switch to this tariff plan?

Yes, you can switch to this new package. You have to visit nearest Mobitel outlet to complete this process.

 

What are the optional features that are available with SMART Pre-paid?

They include, SMART Freedom Suite of services, 3G Delight and Value Added Service (VAS) features.

FAQ SMART Share

 

What is SMART Share?

SMART Share is another cool feature introduced by SMART prepaid service. This unique feature gives you the freedom to share your credit with your friends who has SMART connections. If any one of your SMART friends runs out of credit you can just make their day by sending a simple command to transfer some credit from your phone to your friend's phone.

 

Please note that a PIN is not required anymore to carry out a SMART Share. This has been done in order to enhance convenience of transferring credit for all smart users

 

Currently customers who have obtained a PIN can dial using the old format in addition to the NEW FORMAT But new PIN'S will not be issued anymore in the case of resets.

 

What is the new format for transferring credit?

*448*SMART Mobile Number*Amount# & Press CALL or SEND
e.g
If a user wishes to transfer Rs.30 from their SMART Mobile Number to 0713281106 the customer is required to DIAL *448*0713281106*30#

 

What will be the expiry date if I already have a balance at the time of receiving a credit?

Your existing expiry date will be extended by 30 days once you receive a credit, but to a maximum of 180 days. For example if your current credit is Rs.50/- and is expiring after 100 days and you received an Rs.10/- credit, the total of Rs.60/- will expire after 130 days. The expiry date will not exceed the maximum of 180 days.

 

How much does it cost me to send a credit to another phone?

The CHARGES and Conditions for smart SHARE will be the same for both using a PIN and without:

The Minimum amount to transfer will be Rs.10
Each Transfer will cost Rs.2 + taxes
A minimum balance of Rs.32.61 should be available in the account for any user to SMART share

 

What is the old format for transferring credit using a PIN?

Simply type as below,

*448*PIN*071_ _ _ _ _ _ _*amount# & SEND

It's that simple. You can send any amount starting from Rs.10/- to Rs.2000/-. Also both you and your friend will receive SMS's confirming the sending and the receiving amounts. All credits transferred will have a maximum validity period of 30 days.

 

How do I change my PIN?

No new PIN resets will be carried out. Users can conform to the new format of not using a PIN in Smart Share transfers.

What is "Any 8" feature?

The Any 8 feature allows you to enjoy discounted outgoing calls to 8 nominated numbers for a daily fee.

How do I change the Any-8 numbers I have already nominated?

To change the Any 8 numbers which you have already nominated, Dial 141, press 5 and press 2 from your phone, listen to the instructions.

You can change the numbers you have nominated upto 8 times free of charge within a 30 day period from the date of activation of this feature, additional changes above this free entitlement within the 30 day period will be charged at Rs.10 per change

 

How do I deactivate the Any 8 feature?

To deactivate the Any 8 feature, type NOA8 and sms this to 7678 from your phone

What are SMART FREEDOM Options?
SMART FREEDOM options are convenient ways to enjoy free calling within the network, subject to a Fair Usage Policy (FUP), for a period of your choice. They are available as SMART FREEDOM Daily, Weekly and the latest addition to this suite is the Hourly option. These options are available to all SMART Prepaid subscribers.

What are the benefits I receive with SMART FREEDOM?
  • SMART FREEDOM - Hourly
    This option offers 60 minutes of voice and video calls and up to 60 SMS’ s within the network during a chosen hour from the time of activation.
  • SMART FREEDOM - Daily.
    This option offers free use of voice, video and Text Messaging (SMS) within the network throughout the subscribed period (day), subject to the FUP.
  • SMART FREEDOM - Weekly.
    This option offers free use of voice, video and Text Messaging (SMS) within the network throughout the subscribed period (Week), subject to the FUP.
Who can subscribe to a SMART FREEDOM Option?
Any active SMART Pre Paid subscriber who has sufficient balance can opt for Hourly, Daily or Weekly SMART FREEDOM.

What are the charges applicable to the above options in SMART FREEDOM?
Following are the charges applicable to each option, which will be deducted immediately after activation irrespective of the time of activation.

Hourly
Rental of Rs.25/- (+TAX & levies)     - charged immediately after activation.
Daily
Rental of Rs.50/- (+TAX & levies)     - charged immediately after activation.
Weekly
Rental of Rs.270/- (+ TAX & levies)  - charged immediately after activation.

What are the benefits I receive with SMART FREEDOM?
  • SMART FREEDOM - Hourly
    This option offers 60 minutes of voice and video calls and up to 60 SMS' s within the network during a chosen hour from the time of activation.
  • SMART FREEDOM - Daily
    This option offers free use of voice, video and Text Messaging (SMS) within the network for a 24 hour period from the time of activation, subject to the FUP.
  • SMART FREEDOM - Weekly
    This option offers free use of voice, video and Text Messaging (SMS) within the network throughout the subscribed period (Week), subject to the FUP.
How can I know whether my subscription is activated?
If you activate FREEDOM via short codes you will receive a Text Message (SMS) confirming your subscription. If FREEDOM is activated by calling 141, a voice prompt will be given confirming your activation and stating the expiry date and time of your FREEDOM period.

How can I subscribe to SMART FREEDOM?
There are two methods to activate the SMART FREEDOM options:

What is the validity of my SMART Freedom Option?
The validity of the SMART Freedom option varies as shown in the table below:

7 Days, which includes the day the activation was carried out

E.g : If you activated Smart Freedom Weekly at 6.00pm on the 01/03/2009 this option will expire at Mid Night on the 07/03/2009

Can I make multiple subscriptions? (e.g. two daily options, three weekly options etc.,)
Yes, You can do so by dialing the activation code as many times as you wish to subscribe.

For example, to subscribe to the SMART FREEDOM Hourly option for two hours, you may send the activation code twice.

If you wish to subscribe to the SMART FREEDOM Daily option for two days, you may send the activation code twice.

These multiple commands may be sent at the same time or times apart.

Can I activate the Daily freedom Option while being on an Hourly Freedom session or vice versa?
Yes, you can activate the Daily Freedom Option while on Hourly Freedom session and vice versa.

Can I activate the Weekly Freedom option while being on a Daily Freedom and/or Hourly Freedom session?
No, you cannot activate the Weekly Option while on Hourly or Daily freedom until the Hourly and/or Daily freedom session expires.

Can I activate the Daily Freedom or Hourly Freedom option while being on Weekly Freedom session?
No, you cannot activate the Hourly or Daily freedom option until your Weekly freedom session expires.

What is a Fair Usage Policy (FUP)?
A Fair Usage Policy consists of a set of terms, conditions and guidelines enforced to safeguard the interest of the majority of subscribers on SMART FREEDOM. This is introduced with the sole objective of providing a high level of service to the vast majority of subscribers who would benefit from these options, whilst exercising control over the small number of potentially very high users, whose behavioural patterns may adversely affect the service quality experienced by the rest. The FUP for SMART FREEDOM is enforced as usage limits on features available.

Thus, under the FUP applicable to SMART FREEDOM, the free volume of outgoing voice, video calls and the number of Text Messages (SMS) will be as follows:

The above limits include cumulative minutes spent on conference calls as well. For example, in a three party (caller plus two other receivers) conference call of 30 minutes duration, the caller will have consumed 60 minutes in total.

What will happen if I exceed the limits defined above by the FUP?
If you exceed the free entitlement listed against each feature, within the validity period of the Hourly, Daily or Weekly option, you will be charged in accordance with the tariff structure of your base package.

In SMART FREEDOM Hourly, if you utilize all your available voice minutes by conference calls, the remainder may be utilised for video calls. For instance, in a three party (caller plus two other receivers) voice conference call of 30 minutes, the caller will be consuming 60 minutes. The remaining 30 minutes of the hour may be utilised for Video Calls.

Will I be notified when I reach my FUP limit?
Yes, you will receive a Text Message (SMS) when you reach 90% of the limit defined under FUP.

Can I change my option after I subscribed? (e.g. Daily option to weekly, Hourly option to Daily)
No you cannot. Immediately after you send in the activation code, the option subscription fee is deducted from your account and the selected option will be made available.

Can I cancel the subscription to SMART FREEDOM service, once I subscribed?
There is no method to de-activate the tariff option before it expires automatically.

How will I be charged for the calls I make to other networks, whilst being in an active subscription to a FREEDOM Option?
If you have nominated these numbers as your Any 8 numbers, you will be charged according to Any 8 rates. Else, the normal rates of your tariff plan will apply.

What will happen to the features I enjoy in my freedom subscription, if my credit balance reaches zero whilst I am still within the validity period of a SMART FREEDOM option?
You will still be able to enjoy your SMART FREEDOM even when your balance reaches zero. But you will not be able to make any outgoing calls to other networks.
