How to obtain a new connection?

You are able to obtain a new connection from Mobitel Big M's & branches, Mobitel Authorized payment centers, Singer Mega shops, & SLT Teleshops.

How do I increase my credit limit?

Your initial credit limit on a post-paid connection is Rs 1500. However the credit limit can be enhanced by way of

  • By keeping an additional deposit (refundable) at the time of subscription or later
  • By providing any of the following financial statements within the last 3 months Current account statement Salary slip Credit card statement Your last 3 mobile bills with your previous service provider

How do I know my usage and account balance?

You can dial 1456 or receive a SMS through My Mobitel menu on your mobile to know your usage and account balance.

How is the rental calculated on my first bill?

On selected packages, rental will be charged from the date of connection, up to the date of your bill and with a month’s rental in advance.

e.g.
You obtained your ACTIVE 300 connection on 5/1/2006 and your bill date was 20/1/2006.

This is how the rental will be calculated
Rental for the number of days -05/01/2006 to 19/01/2006
  = Rs.300/30 x 15 Days
    = Rs.150
Rental for one month in advance - 20/01/2006 to 19/02/2006
   
The total rental changed
   
   

What is the due date of the bill?

The due date will be 14 days after the bill is processed


Where can I pay my bills?

Your monthly bill can be paid at the following locations

Mobitel Big M’s and branches
• Mobitel authorized payment centers
Singer Mega shops
SLT Teleshops
• Banks – Please click here to view detail

• Keells Super *
• SMS Payments – Account holders of Sampath Bank, Commercial Bank and Hatton National Bank can use SMS bill payment service to pay the Mobitel bill.   You can just walk into any Mobitel office and fill a deposit slip with your Mobitel Number and make the payment.
  * Payments are not updated online.

What is the grace period of my bill?

When the outstanding amount of your bill exceeds the credit limit, outgoing will be disconnected and after 3 days the line will be temporary disconnected and will be deactivated after 30 days.

 

What steps can be done if my line is Temporary disconnected or Deactivated?

If your line is Temporary disconnected you have to settle all your bills which are due, and make sure that the outstanding amount is reduced to an amount below the credit
limit and if your line is deactivated the total outstanding amount must be paid along with the NIC.

What is “My Best Friend” offer?

Cool Plus 100 subscribers can nominate one Mobitel number for Rs 1/- per minute outgoing. You can nominate the number at the time of obtaining the connection.

Can I change my friends and family nominated numbers?

Yes.
Nominated numbers can be changed once in 30 days. Please send in your written request to our Big M outlets, Singer Mega or authorized payment centers or fax to 0112330396.

Can I change my package?

Yes, If you are a post-paid user all you have to do is to fill an alteration form stating your  new tariff package.
You will also be able to change your package online or through a SMS in the near future.

How do I transfer the ownership?

You can transfer the ownership of your connection by giving us a letter of authorization. The new user would have to call over at any of our outlets with,

1.Billing proof under the new user’s name
2.A connection deposit of minimum Rs.1500 will be charged , If you are not transferring your deposit to the new user.
3.Transfer fee of Rs.500/-
4. NIC copy of the existing customer and of the new user.

My Sim card is lost/damaged. What do I do? 

Please visit our Big M Outlets, Singer Mega or Mobitel authorized payment centres, for a replacement of your SIM.

Charges will apply.

Can I send and receive E – mail from my handset?

Yes.  There are two methods:
Using SMS
Make sure you have a SMS service.  Go to the My Mobitel Menu and follow the steps mentioned below.

Using MMS
If you have Mobitel MMS, you can send and receive even Multimedia Messages through the GPRS connection, to your email account.

* If you have e-mail client software in your handset it may be possible for you to use e-mail directly using Mobitel GPRS or to access their email using your handset’s WAP browser. Please check for your email provider’s configuration settings.
