Manual Selection

If you prefer to choose the network yourself, set your mobile phone to manual selection mode. Please refer to the user guide of your mobile phone or consult your dealer for details. In manual mode, your mobile phone will display all available GSM networks in the area, out of which you could select the network of your preference.


Recharging procedure while roaming

You can recharge by:

  • By Carrying your own SMART Recharge Cards,
    The entry should be done by *102* Pin Number # YesDealer Top-up - TOP Up credit from Sri Lanka to your mobile number.

  • Credit Card payment made through the Mobitel website (www.mobitel.lk) (For Visa or Master Card)

  • If you need to add more credit to your account whilst roaming, a local contact person can recharge the card through a dealer point on your behalf.

    Call *100# and your balance will appear on the screen

Receiving calls from Sri Lanka
Caller dials your mobile number directly
Charges are as follows; for Sri Lanka & Countries other than Roaming Destination

• IDD rates are based on Mobitel IDD rates, from Sri Lanka to roaming destination
• Standard airtime rate for incoming calls of the respective GSM operator in roaming destination (applicable only when respective GSM operator charges for airtime of incoming calls).

Example :
You are roaming in Australia and you receive a call from Sri Lanka. You will be charged as follows:

  1. Mobitel IDD rate from Sri Lanka to Australia
  2. Standard airtime rate for incoming calls of Australia operator
  3. Roaming surcharge of Australian operator
Making outgoing calls while roaming

Making outgoing local calls in the country you are roaming
Dial the number you want to reach.

Example : You are roaming in Australia and you want to call a Australian Telephone Number,
                Just Dial the number without IDD codes.

Charges
Outgoing calls to another number within your roaming destination will be charged as follows:

  • Standard airtime rate of respective GSM operator in roaming destination.
  • Roaming surcharge of respective GSM operator in roaming destination
Example:
You are roaming in Australia and you make a call to a Australian telephone number. You will be charged as follows:
  1. Standard airtime rate of Australian operator
  2. Roaming surcharge of Australian operator

Making Calls to Sri Lanka & IDD calls while Roaming
To make calls outside your roaming destination, Including Sri Lanka dial

  1. Country code of the party you want to contact
  2. Number
Example:
If you are calling Sri Lanka (Your Home country) while you are roaming, you would need to dial 0094 + number.

To Sri Lanka +94********* or 0094*********
To UK +44********** or 0044**********

Charges
Outgoing calls to places outside roaming destination will be charged as follows:

  1. Standard airtime rate of respective GSM operator in roaming destination.
  2. IDD rate of respective GSM operator in roaming destination to the country your calling

Roaming surcharge and value-added tax (where applicable) of respective GSM operator in Roaming Destination


Example:
You are roaming in Australia and you make a call to a Sri Lankan telephone number. You will be charged as follows:

  1. Standard airtime rate of Australian operator.
  2. IDD rate based on Australian operator's IDD rate from Australia to Sri Lanka.
  3. Roaming surcharge of Australian operator.

Outgoing calls to another number within your roaming destination;
When making an outgoing call to a number within your roaming destination, dial only the number without the country code.


Example:
You are roaming in UK and you want to call a UK Telephone Number, Just Dial the number without country codes.


Charges
Outgoing calls to another number within your roaming destination will be charged as follows:

  1. Standard airtime rate of respective GSM operator in roaming destination.
  2. Roaming surcharge of respective GSM operator in roaming destination

Example:
You are roaming in Australia and you make a call to a Australian telephone number. You will be charged as follows:

  1. Standard airtime rate of Australian operator
  2. Roaming surcharge of Australian operator

How do you take a call through 'Call Home'?
To make outgoing calls back to Sri Lanka at a low cost

Dial using;
*140*94xxxxxxx#

Ex : *140*94712755777# (Mobile)
       *140*94112330550# (Fixed)

Charges
Outgoing calls using CALL HOME to call back Sri Lanka

  1. CALL HOME rate charged by Mobitel (in LKR)
  2. Roaming incoming call rate made applicable by th roaming operator (in foreign currency)

How do you send a message using 'SMS HOME'?

Dial *123* < Recipient Number > #
Eg: *123* 0712778880#

Charges for SMS HOME messages;

Rs. 5 would be charges for every SMS HOME message
