Network Selection |
Automatic selection
Once you switch on your mobile phone at your roaming destination, it will automatically select the network with the strongest signal. Your mobile phone will display the network.
Manual Selection
If you prefer to choose the network yourself, set your mobile phone to manual selection mode. Please refer to the user guide of your mobile phone or consult your dealer for details. In manual mode, your mobile phone will display all available GSM networks in the area, out of which you could select the network of your preference.

Receiving calls from Sri Lanka
Caller dials your mobile number directly
Charges are as follows:
Sri Lanka & Countries other than the current roaming destination;
Receiving local calls in the country you are roaming in, or another country other than Sri Lanka:
Caller dials the International Access Code of the country he is calling from, followed by 94 (country code for Sri Lanka and your mobile number).

Please note that your caller would need to have the IDD facility to call you in this instance.
Example: You are roaming in Australia; your caller from Australia would need to reach you by Dialing Sri Lanka Access code 0094 + Mobile Number.

You are roaming in UK and you want to call a UK Telephone Number, Just Dial the number without IDD codes.

Charges
Outgoing calls to another number within your roaming destination will be charged as follows:
- Standard airtime rate of respective GSM operator in roaming destination.
- Roaming surcharge of respective GSM operator in roaming destination
Example:
You are roaming in Australia and you make a call to a Australian telephone number. You will be charged as follows:
- Standard airtime rate of Australian operator
- Roaming surcharge of Australian operator
Making Calls to Sri Lanka & IDD calls while Roaming To make calls outside your roaming destination, Including Sri Lanka dial
- Country code of the country of the party you want to contact
- Areas code
- Number
Example:
If you are calling Sri Lanka (Your Home country) while you are roaming, you would need to dial 0094 + Local number.

Example:
You are roaming in Australia and you make a call to a Sri Lankan telephone number. You will be charged as follows
- Standard airtime rate of Australian operator.
- IDD rate based on Australian operator's IDD rate from Australia to Sri Lanka.
- Roaming surcharge of Australian operator.

Using Mobitel Menu while Roaming
Mobitel Menu can be used while roaming, but charges applicable would be SMS roaming rates based on the Network you select
