Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel ties up with eChannelling Service

Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel - the National Mobile Service Provider proudly announces the launch of eChannelling to its subscriber base, after an agreement was reached recently between Mobitel and e-Channelling Limited, the application service provider to the healthcare industry.

 

This service refers to gaining access to specialist doctors with the use of Mobile Commerce. Channelling your preferred doctor becomes as easy as dialing 225 from any Mobitel phone, a service which will be available 24 hours. It promises both pre-paid and post-paid subscribers the ease and speed of accessing a preferred doctor, replacing the usual queues and delays otherwise encountered.

 

The Chief Executive Officer of Mobitel, Mr. Suren J. Amarasekara said, "Mobitel always strives to develop new features that enhance the value and services provided to the customer. I believe that this new alliance will provide our customers with the benefits of convenience, low cost and timeliness; elements which are of value in this hectic day and age."

 

Commenting on the launch of the new service, the Chief Executive Officer of eChannelling, Mr Sidath Chandrasena, added that "this is another important milestone in enabling the nation's population to access healthcare services in a convenient and cost effective manner from anywhere at anytime."

 

E-Channelling Limited, the one stop- shop for technology in the healthcare industry is Sri Lanka's first and one and only listed technology company on the Colombo Stock Exchange.

 

Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel - the national mobile service provider - is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sri Lanka Telecom. In January 2004, the company launched its full-fledged GSM network that is EDGE/GPRS enabled and designed to operate on dual bands. Investments committed to date in its 3G and GSM service offering, total over US$200 million and are set to increase its present 600 base stations to 1500 base stations by the end of this year.
