Mobitel launches its latest store at Hilton Colombo

Sri Lanka's National Mobile Service Provider, Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel further strengthened its partnership with the country's premier hospitality giant Hilton Colombo with the opening of its latest store at the Hilton. This pioneering step was taken in order to supplement the lives of business travelers and tourists who would require cutting edge communication services at their disposal.

The signature five-star service of the Hilton Colombo and the state of the art communication services offered by Sri Lanka's National Mobile Service Provider is set to broaden the horizons of customers who visit the hotel. Known for its unparalleled service and hospitality, the Hilton will provide the ideal setting for business travelers, tourists and locals to engage in their daily work while being able to easily access the offered communication services.

The Mobitel Store will offer services and products in the likes of International Roaming, IDD, M3 Broadband and also enable payment of bills, recharging of accounts and purchasing of Starter Packs also Mobitel M3 Wi-Fi is enabled for the convenience of Hotel patrons making browsing, downloading and staying in touch effortless.

Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel, the National Mobile Service Provider and the Official Sponsor of the National Cricket Team, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sri Lanka Telecom. In January 2004, the company launched its fully-fledged 2.5G GSM network that is EDGE/GPRS enabled and designed to operate on dual band. In December 2007, the company launched its 3.5G HSPA network - the first Super 3.5G network in South Asia. Further, Mobitel successfully demonstrated HSPA + MIMO technology with down link speed up to 28.8 mbps for the first time in the South Asian region. Investments committed to date in the 3.5G/2.5G networks and service offering amounts to over US$300 mn. The company plans to increase its combined number of base stations to 3000 by the end of 2010.
