5 Mobitel SMART users win Rs 100,000 each in unique promotion
In celebration of 'International Customer Service Week,' Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel, the National Mobile Service Provider, held the 'Mobitel Customer Care Week' from October 1 - 5, to reward their loyal customers through a series of innovative promotions.
The promotion entailed a number of special offers for each product sector of the company: International Business consisting of IDD and Roaming, Handsets, Pre-Paid, Post-Paid and Value Added Services.
Under the Pre-Paid promotion, during Customer Care Week, all customers who recharged their accounts using SMART recharge cards valued at Rs 350 or more, were entered into a draw in which one lucky customer each day was awarded a cash prize of Rs 100,000.
Speaking about the promotion Suren J. Amarasekera, CEO of Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel said, "During the Customer Care Week we wanted to recognise and reward customers who contribute to our Pre-Paid business. At present we have a customer base well in excess of one million, of which, the majority are SMART Pre-Paid users. I was very glad to meet the five winners who are from all parts of the country such as Matara, Balangoda and Padawiya. This also signifies the strides we have made in network rollout to reach all parts of the country."
Each of the winners were awarded their prizes at a ceremony held at Mobitel.
The winner of the first day's promotion, W M S K Wije from Galgamuwa who said he was very happy with the service offered from Mobitel as he could take calls at any time without congestion or loss of signal. He also praised the company's coverage and good service.
H D P Dimuthu Kumara from Padawiya thanked Mobitel for caring for its customers in this way. He said he used a Mobitel connection from the start and would always do so because of the ease of obtaining information from his phone and the excellent coverage.
J V Harshana Jayasekara from Balangoda said he has used Mobitel for over one and a half years and was very impressed with its service. In some areas Mobitel was the only operator to have coverage, he added.
A R Fernando from Marawila, whose son used the connection said that this promotion was a great service to the country and the customers and thanked Mobitel for holding this promotion.
T Kodisingha Arachchi from Matara said that he was very happy that Mobitel had come out with a promotion, which was beneficial to both the company and its customers. He said he was a loyal Mobitel user since he got better coverage from Mobitel than any other operator.
Jean Fernandez, General Manager - Customer Care said, "International Customer Care Week is an occasion to recognise customer service officers but in Sri Lanka we also use it as an opportunity to reward our customers."
Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel, the National Mobile Service Provider, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sri Lanka Telecom. In January 2004, the company launched its fully-fledged GSM network that is EDGE/GPRS enabled and designed to operate on dual bands. Investments committed to date in its 3G and GSM service offering totals over US$ 200 mn and is set to increase its present 600 + base stations to 1500 base stations by the end of the year.
