Mobitel provides integrated solution to the Edna Group
Mobitel, the National Mobile Service Provider is to provide the Edna Group, one of Sri Lanka’s largest conglomerates, total mobile voice and SMS communication solutions. The integrated nature of the mobile telephony with data capability, resulting from the tie up with Mobitel, would increase productivity of the Group through cost effective real time communication.
B R S T Edirisinghe, Chairman, Edna Group, commenting on the significance of the tie up said: “Our organisation is always looking for the latest technologies to improve the business performance through communication and organise the information to demonstrate what we learnt, why it is important, and what needs to happen next. Thereby we selected Mobitel as the group mobile communication service provider due to their excellent customer service, the first priority customer solution, latest technology, convenient package and which belongs to the parent company – SLT. Also we trust this arrangement will definitely fulfill our requirements and bring results.”
The solution will help with direct cost saving as well as making operations smoother for the company’s 22 subsidiaries. As the mobile arm of SLT, the company would be able to compliment and easily integrate its mobile solutions into voice and data solutions, currently provided by SLT. This will in turn increase productivity, while minimising costs for not only Edna’s current operations but also in the future, when further enhancements and extensions of solutions will be implemented.
Suren J Amarasekera, CEO of Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel said: “We are honoured that we were given the opportunity to provide Edna with total mobile solutions. The agreement signed with Edna will help enhance the productivity of the company through a product enhancement roadmap that guarantees increased productivity while ensuring cost effectiveness. This will be due to the integration of Mobitel solutions with existing solutions of SLT helping to further enhance the capabilities of the group.”
The Edna Group was founded 50 years ago, with diversified business interests in chocolate and confectionary, engineering goods and industrial packaging. The group is engaged in manufacturing, marketing and trading in these areas of interest.
