Mobitel launches M2M preferential pricing for SMART Pre-Paid users

Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel, the National Mobile Service Provider, announced the launch of its all new Pre-Paid tariff with markedly reduced 'M2M' rates, giving users of the company's SMART service even better rates on their calls and messaging.

The new M2M tariff is available to Mobitel SMART customers, offering preferential rates, notably the 'Day Time Surprise' from 6am to 6pm, allowing users to make out-going calls for a mere Rs 2 per minute to any Mobitel number. In addition to this, SMART users can send SMSs and MMSs all day long, for Rs. 1 and Rs. 2 respectively.

'Night Time Surprise' from 11pm to 6am also allows customers to make outgoing calls to any telephone number for the same rate, with calls made between 6pm and 11pm charged at Rs 5 per minute. Under M2M, SMART customers already enjoy free incoming calls from fellow Mobitel users. On top of this, loyal SMART users can also receive up to 20% off of the rates above.

M2M is the latest attraction from Mobitel and comes hot on the heels of the dynamic SMART Share facility, which allows Mobitel Pre-Paid customers to gift each other call credit straight from their phones.

The new M2M rate makes the SMART service even more attractive, especially to younger users who will find the SMART Share facility the most useful.

Mobitel is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sri Lanka Telecom. In January 2004, the company launched its fully-fledged GSM network that is EDGE/GPRS enabled and designed to operate on dual bands. Investments committed to date in its 3G and GSM service offering totals over US$ 200 mn and is set to increase its present 600 + base stations to 1500 base stations by the end of the year.
