CIM Ball

The annual dinner dance of the Chartered Institute of Marketing Sri Lanka Region - The CIM Ball, was held at the Trans Asia Hotel on the 18th of October 2008. Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel was the Principle Sponsor of this Event.

International Photographic Exhibition 2008

Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel was the Main Sponsor of the 14th International Photographic Exhibition which was held from the 10th to the 13th of October 2008, at the National Art Gallery. This event was held in commemoration of the 58th Anniversary of the National Photographic Art Society of Sri Lanka, with the Patronage of the International Federation of Photographic Arts.

Annual NCE Export Awards

The 16th Annual - NCE Export Awards Ceremony 2008 was held bringing together the best in the industry as well as up and coming export companies.

Rowing Nationals 2008

The Rowing Nationals 2008 were held at the Colombo Rowing Club on the 12th of September, organized by the Amateur Rowing Association of Sri Lanka. As the National Mobile Services Provider, Mobitel was the Main Sponsor of this regatta, a National Event.

Renal Care and Renal Research Centre

Mobitel donated to a humanitarian project by the National Kidney Foundation, in setting up a Kidney Care and Renal Research Centre at the Anuradhapura General Hospital.

Children's Welfare Programme

A Special Children's Welfare Programme was organized at the resettled villages in the Easter Province by the Sri Lanka Air Force Seva Vanitha Unit (SLAF SVU) to commemorate the International Children's Day. School children representing ethnic groups Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslim participated in this event. The event included Children's Workshop, a Counselling Programme, a Dental and Healthcare Programme and an Entertainment Programme.

National Information Technology Conference 2008

Mobitel, together with Sri Lanka Telecom, sponsored the 26th National IT Conference (NITC) hosted by The Computer Society of Sri Lanka (CSSL) on the 20th and 21st August 2008. Under the theme 'e-Inclusion for a Knowledge economy', the conference explored the ICT innovations and shared knowledge among the ICT community.

Badminton Sponsorship for University of Moratuwa

In promoting sports, Mobitel sponsored University of Moratuwa, at the All Island Open Badminton Championship 2008, held from the 3rd to 6th July. This gave the team, real time competitive and actual tournament exposure as well as opportunity to develop Badminton skills and talents while improving their performance.

Fun-Duh-Mental 2008

This was organized by the interact club of Visakha Vidyalaya and Royal College and a community service project organized for the 3rd consecutive year. The focus of this event was helping street children and the victims of child prostitution in Sri Lanka as these are pressing issues faced by our children and Mobitel was the co-sponsor for the event.

CFA Forecast Dinner 2008

CFA Forecast Dinner was a grand event which attracted an audience of stock brokers, portfolio managers the investment bankers, other market intermediaries, high net worth individuals and CFA Charter holders.

National HR Conference 2008

The National Conference on Human Resource Management was held at B.M.I.C.H on 2nd & 3rd June 2008 under the theme 'People Drive Business'. Mr. Geoff Armstrong Director General of the Charted Institute of personal & Development, U.K was the Chief Guest. Mobitel was a co-sponsor for the National HR Conference.

International Advertising Association - Leadership Forum

The International Advertising Association (IAA), Sri Lanka Chapter hosted the second IAA Leadership Forum in Colombo, which was held at the Cinnamon Grand. This was a unique forum for all advertising stakeholders, which had several presentations focusing on the future of the advertising industry.

5th Saarc Bridge Championships

5th Saarc Bridge Championships were held at the Galadari Hotel from April 23rd to 27th, 2008. Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel Co-sponsored this event.

Hill Club, Annual Ranking Tennis Tournament

With festival celebrations at Nuwara Eliya in full swing and many sporting activities taking place the Hill Club of Nuwara Eliya joined the carnival by conducting their annual tennis tournament. This is one of the premier events of the season and it is given the ranking states by the Sri Lanka Tennis Association.
