Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel supports a wide variety of national positive endeavors in the view to enhancing the image of Sri Lanka in the international arena as well as aiding toward the development of the country. Our contribution to recognizing and acknowledging outstanding feats is not just limited to the area of business alone, but also extends over the Sri Lankan sporting field. With our interests and concerns channelled towards diverse spheres, we seek to employ a holistic approach to promote and aid in the development of Sri Lanka. As the National Mobile Service Provider, we see this as one of our primary responsibilities.

Here are some of the events that we have been a part of in the recent past:

International Advertising Association- Leadership Forum

The International Advertising Association (IAA), Sri Lanka Chapter hosted the second IAA Leadership Forum in Colombo, which was held at the Cinnamon Grand. This was a unique forum for all advertising stakeholders, which had several presentations focusing on the future of the advertising industry.

Sri Lanka Turf Club Governors Cup

The "Governor's Cup" is the main event and the highlight for the April festive season. Organized by the Sri Lanka Turf Club, it was worked off on the 14th of April at the Nuwara eliya race course, with a large crowd engaging themselves in this popular event.

Athletic Association of Sri Lanka- Relay Carnival 2007

Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel was the proud sponsor of The Relay Carnival 2007, which was held on the 8th, 9th and 10th of June at the Sugathadasa Stadium.

The Relay Carnival is a national event which has been considered one of the best calendar events by schools and top athletes in the country. The participants for this event consisted of athletes of all age groups and categories, including the Under-12 age group and open men and women. This event attracted talented athletes from around the island.

This event is organized jointly by The Athletic Association of Sri Lanka; the governing body of Athletics, and The Schools Athletic Association.

Footwork Dance Sport 2007

Dance Sport, consisting of Ballroom and Latin American dancing is now becoming recognized as a globally competitive sport. Ever since it was introduced to Sri Lanka, Dance Sport has taken an upward trend, and reached an ever-growing position of popularity. Mobitel, as the country's National Service Provider, always takes upon itself to get involved in events of this nature that promotes a positive national sentiment. We believe that through this we were able to enhance the image of the country in the international arena, which is of paramount importance in the prevailing context. This event took place on the 10th of June 2007.

National Olympic Day Run

Over 1000 participated in the Olympic day run in Badulla on Saturday 16th of June organized by the Ministry of Sports on behalf of the international Olympic committee of Sri Lanka. Although the world celebrates International Olympic day run on June 23, the national Olympic committee of Sri Lanka had made arrangements to conduct this year's event in Badulla at the Dunstan Dias Stadium. Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel was the main sponsor of this event.

IPM- National HR Conference 2007

The conference organised by the Institute of Personal Management (IPM) took place on the 19th and 20th of June at the BMICH. The National HR Conference which is held annually has become the premier HR event for knowledge sharing between the crme of HR professionals in Sri Lanka. This year's conference was based on the theme "People Drive Business". The conference together with the "HR Service Providers Exhibition" created and array of opportunities for both those in the HR industry, and those who have not yet ventured into it.

SL Regiment of Artillery- Gunner Super Cross 2007

Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel was the proud sponsor of the Gunner Super Cross 2007, which was held for the fourth consecutive year on the 8th of July at the Artillery Complex in Minneriya.

Organized jointly by The Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery and The Sri Lanka Association of Racing Drivers, the main purpose of this event was to support the fallen soldiers who have sacrificed their lives for their mother land, and their next of kin by providing welfare in terms of financial and material assistance. Since its inception in 2004, it has earned its reputation as a much looked forward to prime motor sports event in Sri Lanka.

College of Surgeons- Surgeons Walk 2007

The Surgeons walk 2007, organized by The College of Surgeons of Sri Lanka was held on the 8th of July 2007. This was a fund raising walk for the Surgeons Training centre.

Sri Lankan Airlines NEGC Tour 2007

The NEGC Tournament 2007 was held for the third consecutive year on August 10 and 11, hosted by SriLankan Airlines, the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club, Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel and auto manufacturer Kia Motors.

The NEGC Tour has proved to be one of the most popular golfing events and has contributed to developing the sport in Sri Lanka.

The Hill Club Tennis Tournament

With festival celebrations at Nuwara Eliya in full swing and many sporting activities taking place the Hill Club of Nuwara Eliya joined the carnival by conducting their annual tennis tournament, which was worked off from April 13 - 15. This is one of the premier events of the season and it is given the ranking states by the Sri Lanka Tennis Association.
